Improve Cognitive Functioning

Escape Room Game Sydney

If we want to solve problems, or even just enjoy the situations we live in, it helps if we can think clearly and creatively.

There has always been some scientific research and general interest into improving our ability to think. There is nothing conclusive, but some habits, some training methods, and some dietary changes seem to be beneficial.

There is speculation over whether these various practices increase our intelligence or whether they simply let us make better use of the intelligence we have. But either way this would still be a benefit.

Nootropics

A few dietary supplements may benefit your thinking.

  • Caffeine is good in small doses. 1 or 2 cups of coffee at most. This can cause insomnia.
  • L-Theanine (found in green and black tea) help calm concentration. Apparently it is far more effective when combined with caffeine. 3 parts L-Theanine to one part caffeine.
  • Nicotine is famous for being in cigarettes, which we don’t recommend. But nicotine in chewing gum can be good for thinking, in small doses. Try 1 mg.
  • Ginseng. An adaptogen, which means it helps general health and help your body fight problems. The health benefits seem to keep the brain thinking clearly. This can cause insomnia if take late in the day.
  • Creatine, used by bodybuilders, helps some people with their cognitive functions.
  • Omega 3 in fish and nuts seems to be useful
  • Ginkgo Biloba – this improves circulation, which can benefit the brain.
  • Lingzhi mushroom (Reishi) seems to put us in a clear frame of mind.

A healthy diet, with no junk food and a lot of natural vegetables, makes all the difference to our ability to think clearly.

Being as physically fit and healthy as possible (don’t stain or injure yourself) will help your mental functions to some extent.

Additionally, the smell of some scents like peppermint will help people focus.
